The National Museum
A journey through Thai history
The National Museum is a treasure trove of Thai art and could easily occupy you for a full day, wandering among the half dozen buildings in the compound.
Museum highlights
Exhibits include bronze tools from the Ban Chiang era, some ancient stone Buddha images, some fabulous funeral chariots and the Buddhaisawan Chapel, which contains the Phra Sihing Buddha from the Sukhothai era.
Guided tours
While you can learn much about this enigmatic kingdom by walking around by yourself, you’ll learn more about the artworks on display by joining one of the free guided walks.
The museum also hosts temporary exhibitions.
