Jim Thompson’s House
Traditional Thai architecture
This classic example of traditional Thai architecture was the home of American adventurer and art collector Jim Thompson before his mysterious disappearance in Malaysia in 1967. Thompson almost single-handedly revived the Thai silk-weaving business to become one of the country’s most sought-after products, and there’s a shop in the grounds selling beautiful silk products.
Priceless Asian art
The house itself is a collection of six teak houses, all of which display examples of priceless Asian art such as sculptures and paintings, and they are surrounded by lush greenery, making the compound a welcome escape from the frantic streets of Central Bangkok.
