Freshly prepared Korean food (l,d;££)

A popular small venue with both locals and visitors, this busy hidden gem is well worth the search to find it. (It's in a little yard off Fossgate, across from the Merchant Adventurers' Hall.) The intimate family restaurant is on two floors (with the main area upstairs), and its popularity and size mean that booking is a good idea.

Don't worry if you're new to Korean food, as the knowledgable and helpful staff are happy to advise. You can try a selection or half portion if you're uncertain. Quite a number diners seem to favour the table grill (which can be a bit smokey), and there is a separate set barbecue menu (around £20 per person).

Vegetarians are provided for with a fair selection of dishes, rather than just tolerated.
