York Tap
One for the road - or the train journey
This station pub is set back from the front of the station, opposite the hotel entrance.
The old York Station tea rooms have been given a makeover, but keep the original decor of a hundred years ago in their new role as a serious beer-lovers' pub. You can admire the stained glass windows and skylights while you enjoy your welcome or farewell drink at the station.
It has a wide range (32 apparently) of local and international beers, especially cask beers, plus bottled varieties from all over the world.
Real ale no is no problem here, and is properly cared for. Staff are knowledgable about what they sell, which is perhaps a good thing, given the choice.
Food is limited to sandwiches and (locally made) pies, though non-drinkers will find tea/coffee and brownies.
Can get very busy at weekends and on race-days.
