TAF (The Art Foundation)
Drink in an old prison (b,l,d; €–€€)
The unique aspect of TAF –The Art Foundation which is a trendy bar come exhibition space–is that it used to be a prison years ago and many of the cells are now exhibition spaces.
It’s housed in a neo-classical building from the 1870’s hidden behind a door (blink and you’ll miss it) down a side street from Monastiraki Flea Market.
Go through the initially daunting door to open up to a tree clad courtyard with bar area, exhibition spaces in the rooms on two floors and locals and travellers mixing with coffee or something stronger in the evenings.
Sometimes DJ sets too.
