Harry Ransom Center
University treasures
The Harry Ransom Center is a treasure trove of literary and cultural artifacts and one of the crown jewels of the University of Texas.
There are 36 million manuscripts, 1 million rare books, 5 million photographs, and thousands of works of art in storage and the Center’s holdings is a like a “Who’s Who” of creativity.
Curators select a tiny fraction for thematic exhibitions throughout the year and the Gutenberg Bible and the View from the Window at Le Gras, the very first photograph of nature, are always on display.
