James Beard Award-winning Chef Tyson Cole’s restaurant has become a must-dine in Austin.
Begin with a stunning appetizer of, perhaps, smoked yellowtail, with yuca crisp, Marcona almond, and Asian pear.
Move on to the sushi and sashimi menu which includes delicate, melt-in-your-mouth tuna, baby yellowtail, snow crab, striped bass, octopus, salmon roe, and sea urchins, some raw and some cooked.
If you like surprises, consider the ten-course Omakase, or tasting menu, decided entirely by the chef, and entirely delicious.
Tucked into a casual, yet sophisticated house in South Austin, Uchi makes for a lovely night out, as does Chef Cole's second Austin restaurant, Uchiko.
