Invermere & Around
This pleasant 4,000-strong town on the northern tip of Lake Windermere would be entirely unexceptional if it wasn’t a destination for many landlocked Albertans looking for a beach, angling or boating holiday.
This makes it a rare thing – a Rocky Mountain beach town – which gives the place a bit of an easy-going seaside atmosphere which is, of course, highly unusual in the region, but is something that resonates throughout the town’s hotels, restaurants and small-town services.
All this helps make it a likeable base for day trips to Panorama ski resort and Kootenay National Park.
