Baker Creek Chalets & Bistro
Stylish rustic lodgings & romantic restaurant (d; $$$)
This gathering of upscale rustic chalets and a fine-dining restaurant lie in the woods beside the Bow Valley Parkway, 12km east of Lake Louise Village.
The Baker Creek Chalets offer one- and two-room log cabins – with kitchen, lounge and fireplace – that sleep up to six, as well as suites in the main lodge. The range in style and price is fairly broad, but all interiors share much the same rustic log-hewn, mountain feel – a vibe helped by the absence of TVs and phones and a slow wifi connection.
All this makes it a perfect retreat and its facilities, which include a sauna, extensive gym and guest lounge make it a hard place to leave.
Baker Creek Bistro
Note: BISTRO CLOSED until 2024
It’s other star attraction is the fantastic Baker Creek Bistro 403-522-2182 and bar, which pulls in diners from as far away as Banff, some 58km away. It offers romantic dining in a softly lit log cabin outfitted with deer-antler chandeliers. The menu includes steaks with innovative sauces and good game dishes ($27–32); apple cake is the house specialty.
