Costs
The Barbados Dollar (BD$) is pegged to the US dollar (BD$2 = US$1), thus the strength of the home country’s currency against the US Dollar will make perhaps the biggest difference to foreign visitors.
Even then, Barbados is, by regional (as in East Caribbean) and global standards, fairly expensive: most goods (including food) are imported and heavily taxed and the standard of living is higher than on most neighbouring islands. In high season (Dec–April) flights and accommodation (the main costs) are considerably higher.

Alas, even the budget end of Barbados is not that budget. Staying in basic self-catering accommodation (one room or studio flat) in a less popular area, using public transport and spending most time on the beach or visiting mostly free sights, two people can probably manage on around US$100–150/person/day in high season.
