The Round House
Views over lunch (b,l; $$)
The food is satisfying but plays second fiddle to the magnificent terrace vista, which is what really makes the Round House. Perched above Bathsheba Beach, this historic inn, which dates from the 1800s, affords mesmerising views of the rugged coastline and the waves pounding the pebble-strewn beach.
The starters and lite bites, in particular, are peppered with local favourites: pumpkin and ginger soup, breadfruit poppers and cassava fried okra although in the wonderfully indulgent “whole baked rum nut brie”, only the rum is especially Bajan.
A-la-carte breakfast and brunch are offered at weekends, accompanied by a pick-me-up Bajan cocktail if you fancy – both the ginger rum sour and the Bajan Bloody (using local sweet potato vodka, and pictured below) pack a punch!
On a clear night, their full-moon dining experience is not to be missed, with live music – loud, so reserve your table accordingly – preceded by happy hour cocktails. Watching the moon seemingly rising from out of the sea is a truly wondrous experience. Live music is also occasionally played on other weekends at lunchtime.
