PEG Farm
Farm-to-table food (b, l; $–$$)
Off the tourist trail, on top of Hackleton’s Cliff, PEG Farm Café is worth a detour for a good-value healthy breakfast or lite lunch if you’re heading for the East Coast. Occupying an oversized gazebo with wooden furniture, the café’s rustic decor is in keeping with the farm-to-table freshness of the food.
Breakfast specials include pancakes piled high with pulled pork and smothered in maple syrup, or a more conventional eggs benedict with trimmings (pictured). A changing lunch menu offers inventive gourmet dishes infused with local flavours such as lemongrass and tamarind. Don’t miss out on the delicious local fruit juices and home-made cakes.
Take a stroll around the farm after your meal – to check out the happy free-roaming hens, the delightful campsite and the splendid view over Hackleton’s Cliff.
