George Washington Coffee House
Classic coffee & Venezuelan treats (b, l; $)
Nestled in the grounds of George Washington House, occupying the old stables and an appealing shady patio, this relaxed coffee shop offers a lot more than espressos, cappuccinos and macchiatos – though the coffee IS excellent.
It’s an ideal place for breakfast, brunch or lunch. A strong Venezuelan thread runs through the menu, from arepas (flat cornbread) to cachapas (corn pancakes) and even Simon Bolivar tostones (fried plantain) topped with feta cheese, black beans and pico de gallo salsa. But there are classic big breakfasts, burgers and omelettes too.
