Zlatni rat
Picture-perfect beach
Southern Dalmatia’s most celebrated beach is Zlatni rat (“Golden Cape”), 2km west of Bol on the island of Brač, a pebbly spit that stretches some 200 metres out to sea.
It can be crowded, hot and dusty in summer; and it is out of season or early in the morning that its true beauty becomes apparent.
It remains one of the coast’s most compelling natural features, reproduced on tourist posters and social media accounts throughout the globe.
It is approached along a long pedestrianised alley lined by souvenir stalls, hotels, cafe-restaurants, and sports firms renting out paddleboards and windsurfer gear. Once on the beach you can rent out sun loungers or parasols (although there is also room for those who simply want to drape a towel) and there is the respite of some shade among the trees at the back.
