Warren House Inn
A remote pub with a warm welcome (l,d; ££)
Set on a lonely stretch of moorland road, the Warren House Inn is an institution. With oak beams, well-worn tables and a fire that’s (reputedly) been lit since 1845, it’s occasionally cut off in the winter – look for the photos of the 1963 snow drifts at the bar.
Rustic food includes their famous Warrener’s Pie, which is made using rabbit meat in honour of the rabbit keepers who used to farm here.
