Porthcurno Beach
Picture perfect soft sand cove
Even in a county famous for the beauty of its beaches, Porthcurno is one of the most picturesque.
Pristine, soft, white-gold sand fills a cliff-backed cove, turquoise seas lap the shore. It’s an undeveloped spot – no doubt why the makers of the hit BBC TV show Poldark used it as the setting for Nampara Cove.
At high tide, in the height of summer, the beach can get relatively crowded. At lower tides even more sand is revealed – visit then if you can.
On the cliffs above the cove you’ll find the impressive Minack Theatre – an open-air amphitheatre built into the rock. The intriguing PK Porthcurno communications museum sits nearby.
