Brixham
Set sail for a picturesque fishing port
Tucked into the southern edge of Tor Bay, Brixham is an appealing blend of proper working fishing port and tourist town. At the centre is a historic harbour which is still home to a significant trawler fleet.
Sights
Brixham’s fish market is a hive of activity, especially in the early-evening when the catch is landed. The town’s Rockfish restaurant is set in the market itself, within sight of the boats.
Nearby at the quayside you can climb aboard the Golden Hind – a full-sized replica of the vessel Sir Francis Drake used to circumnavigate the globe in 1580.
The shingly Breakwater Beach sits beside Brixham’s half-mile breakwater. It’s overlooked by the excellent Breakwater Bistro.
