Coleton Fishacre
1920s elegance & lush grounds
At gorgeous Coleton Fishacre a dreamy Jazz Age house is surrounded by exotic gardens that meander towards the sea. It was built in the 1920s for the D’Oyly Carts – opera impresarios who also owned London’s Savoy Hotel.
Inside
Coleton’s interiors are paired-down and elegant but also appealingly comfortable. They feature a restful library, sheltered loggia and spacious lounge. There’s also a bell that called the family to meals from the cove at the bottom of the gardens.
Grounds
In the grounds paths wind beside terraces, streams and plants from South Africa, New Zealand and the Mediterranean. Don’t miss the pergola that frames a dramatic view of the sea.
