Minions & the Cheesewring Walk
Stone circles and towering rocks (2.75 miles)
Minions – no, not those cute cartoon creations but a former copper mining village high up on Bodmin Moor. The settlement has a scattering of ruined mine engine houses and is the start point for walks taking in striking rock stacks and a triple stone circle.
The Hurlers
From the western edge of the village, walk north west for 200m until you see the first of the Hurlers – three standing stone circles set in a line. They’re the only ones arranged like that in England.
The circles date from around 2000 BC and were probably built for ritual purposes. Their name comes from the legend that they were formed when people playing hurling on a Sunday were turned to stone.
