Tresco & Tresco Abbey Gardens
Bewitching island of exotic plants
Privately-owned Tresco is famous for the sensational collection of sub-tropical plants in the Tresco Abbey Gardens.
Tresco Abbey Gardens
Dubbed ‘Kew without the glass’, these enchanting gardens are home to around 20,000 species of exotic plants. The gardens were established in 1830 among the ruins of a Benedictine Abbey and have plants from New Zealand, South America, South Africa and the Med.
The Valhalla Museum features an array of ships’ figureheads, salvaged from some of the islands’ many shipwrecks.
Sleeping, Eating & Drinking
The gardens have a cafe. The island also has the Ruin beach bistro, the Flying Boat Cafe & Deli, self-catering cottages and the Sea Garden Apartments.
