Isles of Scilly
Scattered in the sea 28 miles off the end of Cornwall, the Isles of Scilly have stolen many a traveller’s heart. Fringed by white-gold sand and gin-clear seas, things in this bewitching archipelago move at a gentler, slower pace. Life seems simpler. Relaxation feels easier. It’s an enchanting place to explore, get off grid and unwind.
The Islands
The largest island – St Mary’s has the biggest range of accommodation, eating and drinking. It also has air and sea links with the mainland, and ferry trips to the other islands – known locally as the “off islands”.
Tresco, with its exotic abbey gardens, is the most visited of the other islands. St Martins offers a vineyard, gorgeous beaches and snorkelling with seals. Bryher delivers a wild shoreline and fantastic seafood. Rugged St Agnes has a castaway feel, a cool campsite and Britain’s most southerly pub.
