Chapel Porth Beach
Wave-dashed sands; cliff-top hikes
Chapel Porth is one of north Cornwall’s most romantic shore-side spots. It’s dramatically different at different stages of the tide.
At low water there’s a wave-pounded swathe of sand to wander along, and often waves to surf or bodyboard (be aware the currents here can be fierce).
At high tide its best to explore the coast path – the 1.5-mile walk north along the cliff top path to St Agnes Head provides fantastic views.
Look out for the ruins of the Wheal Coates tin mine, which seems to cling to the bluffs on the beach’s northern side. The Chapel Porth Cafe is a perfect beach-side pit stop.
