Puy l'Éveque
The Bishop's Holiday Home on the Lot
The Lot river meanders through its valley on the way to a confluence with the Garonne and passes several pleasant towns and villages on the way but none more so than Puy l'Éveque. This small town takes its name from a time when the Bishops of Cahors held sway here.
At the heart of the Cahors AOP wine producing area, Puy l'Éveque is built a rocky bluff overlooking the river. Église St.Sauveur and the 13th Century tower of the ruined Episcopal palace dominate the village.
There is always a lot happening here from the traditional market held every Tuesday to various fairs and shows throughout the year especially in July and August.
