St-Crépin-de-Carlucet
The tiny hamlet of St-Crépin-Carlucet is hidden away in the Black Périgord to the west of Salignac just off the D60 road. This charming collection of pretty houses with lauzes (stone slab) rooves, a church with a fascinating cemetery incorporating tombs set into a wall and the Renaissance Château Lacypierre. It even comes complete with a village green and an 18th century fountain-well!
The Château, built at the end of the 16th century in typical Périgordian style with an elegant hexagonal tower and recently restored, is open to the public for guided visits
The 17th Century village church adjacent to the Château is somewhat austere but this gem of a hamlet should not be missed.
