18th-century landscape painter

Thomas Gainsborough

Eighteenth century artist Thomas Gainsborough was well known for his landscapes and portraits. A large selection of these paintings is now on view in the Thomas Gainsborough Museum, located in his house and birthplace in Sudbury, Suffolk.

In addition to the paintings and objects relating to the painter, there is a historic garden containing plants that were available in Gainsborough’s lifetime.

There is a cafe and shop on site, as well as a variety of other cafes within the town centre.
