Ipswich

Ipswich waterfront

A busy town, Ipswich is located on the edge of the River Orwell and has a lovely waterfront.

The town centre is only a few minutes walk away from the marina and could be combined with a trip to Christchurch Mansion - a pretty museum with a large garden which includes art works by John Constable and Thomas Gainsborough, as well as Victorian toys and games. Free entry.

An ideal day in Ipswich could involve a trip down the river Orwell starting from the marina at Ipswich Waterfront. Enjoy a mixture of scenery from the built up town, under the majestic Orwell Bridge before passing through open countryside to the Shotley Peninsula.

A Range of cruises available including general tours, birdwatching expeditions, afternoon tea trips. Typical providers include Orwell River Cruises. Tours last around 2 hours.

Transport

Access by car is via the A12.Parking available in town centre car parks. Both the railway station and the bus station are very close to the main shopping area.

There are regular trains from London Liverpool Street to Ipswich.
