St Edmundsbury Cathedral
Medieval with town views
Originally part of the medieval St Edmunds abbey, a local Anglo-Saxon saint and martyr whose shrine was in the adjacent Abbey church, it has steadily developed into a cathedral over the centuries.
Situated in the heart of Bury St Edmunds, the Cathedral has a stunning tower which was finally finished at the Millenium.
You can climb the steep stairs to the top of the tower to enjoy fantastic views across the town.
The adjacent Abbey Gardens Bury St Edmunds are very pretty and contain the ruins of the old Abbey buildings, as well as a childrens play area.
No parking on site, you need to use the town car parks.
Entry free but charge payable to climb the tower.
