Theatres & Cinemas

Theater

Edinburgh's arts scene is perfectly respectable, with a good turnover of shows and several major venues sharing the load.

Even so it can look a little thin in comparison to the vast number of August festival season offerings, which hundreds more venues pop-up to accommodate.

The Edinburgh Fringe in particular turns the city into a giant performing-arts showcase. Its scale and liveliness is hard to exaggerate.

What's on

The best place for an overview of what's on is the website run by local listings magazine The List, but you might also check the national tourism body's event search engine.
