The Traverse

Modern theatre with good cafe-bar (l,d; £)

Traverse Theatre Sign, 10 Cambridge St, Edinburgh

The Traverse is a pretty intimate theatre that generally hosts more experimental work. Over the years this has made it a helpful launchpad for up-and-coming Scottish playwrights.

Food

There's also a good little basement cafe-bar here, with a nice arty buzz about it – worth a stop even if you're not theatre-bound. It has some good burgers on the menu (£10) and is open late.
