Winter: Dec, Jan & Feb
With average temps for the season 6ºC/43ºF, Winter in Edinburgh is hardly crushingly cold.
Snow might only fall a few days a year and rarely lies on the ground for long, but windy conditions can be depended on and often make being outdoors uncomfortable.
Things are generally fairly quiet after Edinburgh's Christmas and Hogmanay celebrations, though the drinking and communal cheer resumes during the Six Nations Rugby tournament, which kicks off in early-February.
