History

The ethno-linguistic groups that coalesced into the modern Estonians have resided on the shores of the Baltic Sea for roughly five thousand years.

Subjected to foreign tutelage and colonial ambitions for long periods of their history – most recently from their Russian neighbours to the east – the Estonians have developed a pronounced sense of cultural heritage and national pride.
