House of Peter the Great
Imperial conqueror’s cottage
Between 1714 and 1716, Peter the Great lived in the so-called Dutch House, a small cottage about 200m uphill from Kadriorg Art Museum. Today this simple building harbours the House of Peter the Great museum (Peetrimaja), decked out in the kind of utilitarian furnishings that practical-minded Peter favoured.
Little in the house is original, save for a pair of slippers beside the bed, said to be the Tsar’s own.
