Aparaaditehaas

Post-industrial culture hub

Loosely translated as the ‘Widget Factory’, Aparaaditehaas is cultural space located inside a former engineering factory that used to produce parts for all kinds of machinery - including Soviet submarines - and was once one of the city’s major employers.

The space contains contemporary art galleries, design workshops, cafés, restaurants, a children’s play centre, and hosts regular events - from flea markets to cultural discussions and concerts.

Many of these events spill out into the courtyard in summer, which boasts an open-air cinema on warm dry evenings.
