Saint-Rémy-de-Provence

Nostradamus meets Van Gogh!

If you are looking for a typically Provençal small town then look no further! St-Rémy-de-Provence – its name gives the game away and the plane tree lined boulevards, shady squares with fountains and cafés all confirm that this is the real deal.

Glanum

St-Rémy, established after Glanum was destroyed during the Barbarian invasions following the collapse of the Western Roman Empire. An Abbey, founded by St-Rémi of Reims during the 6th century and the town grew up around it.

Need a Seer?

Many famous people claim an association with St-Rémy not least of whom is the renowned seer Nostradamus. Born here in 1503, his book Les Propheties (The Prophecies) published in 1555, is still in print! The great artist Van Gogh spent time here in 1889 at the hospital of the local monastery St-Paul-de-Mausole. The garden there is the subject of some of his work.
