Strasbourg
City of the Roads & Capital of Alsace
Strasbourg is the capital city or Prefecture of the Grand-Est and sits right on the border with Germany in France’s North East. The River Rhine runs along its eastern limits but it has own River Ill which joins the Rhine south of the City.
The historic centre lies on the Grande Île formed by the River Ill and here you will find Cathédrale Nôtre-Dame with its astronomical clock and great views of the Rhine from the spire. Called Strasbourg or Street Town because all roads in the region led here it is no accident that it became the formal seat of the European Parliament.
