Grand-Est
The Grand Est is located in the very north east of France and shares a border with Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany along its northern edge and Burgundy-Franche-Compte to the south.
It consists of three of the pre-2016 Régions, i.e. Alsace, Lorraine and Champagne-Ardenne which now form the Grand-Est. The Alsace in the east is made up of a plain which runs alongside Germany where the famous wine villages are to be found. Nearby Colmar and Strasbourg are both highly recommended visits. Furthest west lie the Vosges Mountains along the border with Lorraine.
Further west through the Plateau of Lorraine flow the Moselle and Meurthe rivers on which the beautiful cities of Metz and Nancy sit respectively in this flat region.
