Colmar
A favourite of Charlemagne

The small town of Colmar and in particular the ancient Quartier des Tanneurs and La Petite Venise District with its picturesque flower-decked houses and waterways absolutely typifies Alsace. Explore the old town at leisure and even take a boat trip along the River!
Located in the heart of the vineyards, it also provides an ideal base for visiting the local area especially, the Six Alsatian Villages I have included in the App.
Located on the banks of the River Lauch, it began life as a Frankish town often visited by the Emperor Charlemagne. It faced troubled times during the Middle-Ages when the townspeople struggled, albeit successfully eventually, against the forces of the Bishop of Strasbourg and later, those of the Duke of Burgundy.
