Tourist Information

National and Regional Tourism Info

Brittany

The best to place start especially if you haven’t been before is just to go to the official website of the French Tourism authorities in order to get the feel for what’s happening where and when.

There is a wealth of information to be found both on bookshelves and the Internet about France and I have provided below in Practical Info a couple of links to start with here plus three particular book recommendations which I hope will facilitate the process for those who seek to know more.

Films

Two of the books recommended below have been made into films (Chocolat starring Juliette Binoche, Johny Depp and Judi Dench and Jean de Florette/Manon des Source starring Gerard Depardieu and Yves Montand) but of course there are many more including an American in Paris, Charade, Midnight in Paris and the Da Vinci Code. Check out this link for more.

Guidebooks

Michelin Green Guides are available for all French Regions and France itself, see Local Information, and remain for many Francophiles the go-to Guide. The Rough Guide to France is also an excellent publication.
