Citygate

Hong Kong's Only Outlet Mall

There are lots of shopping malls in Hong Kong, but if you’re like most visitors you’re probably most interested in bargains. Citygate, located in Tung Chung (terminus of the Tung Chung MTR Line) and the cable car to Lantau’s Big Buddha and Po Lin Monastery, is Hong Kong’s only outlet mall. Its 70-some shops include Armani, Bally, Brooks Brothers, Clarks, Polo Ralph Lauren and others offering 30 to 70% off international brand names for designer clothing, sportswear, shoes and other accessories. Note, however, that many of its shops are not outlets, but you might still want to look at what’s available at Tumi, Victorinox, Swatch, Swarovski, Shanghai Tang, Rockport, Kate Spade and the other usual mall stores.

Personally, I usually can’t get excited about shopping in malls with the same stores as back home, even I have found bargains I couldn’t pass up (I was especially thrilled to stumble upon a sale of apparel from Japan and inexpensive eyeglass frames). Inventory changes constantly, so you never know what you may find.
