Sky 100
The world's 10th-tallest building towers above Kowloon ($$$)
You’re not quite at the top (The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong has that honor), but the Sky 100 indoor observation deck on the 100th floor of the world’s 10th-tallest building is bringing in the crowds, even at this (for Hong Kong) outrageous price. Interestingly, the International Commerce Centre was the world’s 4th-tallest building when completed in 2010. That’s how fast things change in the race to build ever-upwards. It is, however, still the tallest building in Hong Kong.
Located 1,289 ft/393m above sea level, Sky 100 offers 360-degree panoramic views (on clear days you can see as far away as Disneyland on Lantau island), along with inter-active exhibits centered on local history and culture, a cafe and a tourist information counter. Free audio guides dispense history and sightseeing tips on what you’re seeing from all directions; telescopes (HK$10 for 3 minutes) let you select live views or recreations of views at different times of the day and night. And if all that’s not enough, you can spend more money with one of two virtual reality experiences, one that lets you fly around Hong Kong experiencing a cyclone and sunset and another that lets you see an explosion of fireworks.
