West Kowloon
Hong Kong's Upcoming New Cultural Center
West Kowloon occupies mostly reclaimed land northwest of Tsim Sha Tsui. Although its Kowloon Station has served as a terminus for the Airport Express for many years, West Kowloon has languished as a no-man’s land surrounded by undeveloped reclaimed land and construction.
That began to change, however, with the opening of Elements shopping center, hotels like W Hong Kong and The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong, the Sky 100 observation floor, and residential highrises and office buildings. The biggest change coming to West Kowloon, however, will be the West Kowloon Cultural District, which will encompass numerous cultural and performance venues as it develops over the next decade.
