Batesville
A Taste of Bavaria
Founded in 1852, Batesville is nestled in the hills of Southeastern Indiana on the edges of Franklin and Ripley counties. A small but dynamic city, many of the local businesses have been around for decades.
Celebrate Batesville's German heritage at the www.the-sherman.com/, a dining and lodging destination since 1852. Enjoy such specialties as Sauerbraten mit Rotkraut, a round of beef marinated until tender and slow-cooked and topped with a tart sauce and served with sweet and sour red cabbage and Wuerste mit Kraut German for Sausages and Kraut that’s a wonderful assortment of smoked bratwurst, weiswurst, and knockwurst, served over sauerkraut with a side of German mustard.
Check out the metal sculptures ad fountains made of copper, bronze, stainless steel, and steel by Chaz Kaiser of www.amstudio.us/. His creations can also be seen at www.ertelcellarswinery.com/ in Batesville. While you're there enjoy some wine tasting and dinner at their bistro.
