Ferdinand

Rural hideaway

Photo from Small Town Indiana photo survey.

Tucked away on a country road, Ferdinand, IN never ceases to amaze, from the magnificent www.thedome.org/ on top of a hill overlooking the town that looks like a European castle to soup-n-such.com, an adorably cute cafe located in a historic Swiss-style building, there’s much to offer.

Check into the visitduboiscounty.com/where-to-stay/harvest-moon-bed-breakfast, a 1900 Queen Anne home charmingly done up with period antiques. Call ahead for [lunch or dinner].

Stroll through the quiet village of Ferdinand and visit such quaint shops as Tin Lizzie’s on Main Street is a visitor favorite for home furnishings and décor and don’t forget www.facebook.com/FerdinandAntiqueEmporium.

And never forget long time favorite fleigs-cafe.edan.io/, with its downhome food such as fried chicken, beef and noodles, minute steak, mashed potatoes, and pork chop sandwiches. Turtle soup, a Southern Indiana tradition, is on the menu at Fleig's Cafe.

Take a walk in the woods, go boating, fishing, hunting, enjoy the 8.8 miles of mountain biking or hit the beach at www.stateparks.com/ferdinand.html.
