Huntingburg

A league of its own

Photo from Small Town Indiana photo survey.

A wonderful small town with a main street resplendent with the elegant Italianate, Romanesque and Victorian style commercial buildings.

The architecture, popular in the late 1800s, signifies brick buildings with tall narrow or arched windows and decorative facades that boasted of the town’s prosperity and dedication to community standards.

Though much has changed in the years since businesses like the Electrical Shoe Hospital thrived, the buildings, loving tended through the years, are still proud and the downtown still hums with industry,

Huntingburg, tucked away in the hills of Southern Indiana only 20 miles from the Ohio River, is so quintessential small town that over the last two decades, three major movies including "A League of Their Own" starring Madonna, Tom Hanks and Geena Davis and "Hard Rain" starring Christian Slater and Morgan Freeman, have been filmed here.
