Nickle Plate Express

Out of the ordinary themed train journeys are offered by the Nickel Plate Express. The trips are run between April-December aboard a 1956 Santa Fe El Capitan cars. Excursions include wine, beer and dinner rides as well as family-friendly holiday programs such as the Pumpkin Express, the Reindeer Ride Express and Holiday Cheer.

The Nickel Plate Express operates on 12 miles of the former Nickel Plate Road between Atlanta and Noblesville. Excursions board out of Noblesville at 825 Forest Park Drive. They also operate the 1869 historic Arcadia train depot. Once the busy center of Arcadia, it serviced both passenger and freight traffic particularly during the gas boom.

Now restored, the Arcadia Depot is a window into the past. Opened as a museum, it showcases the history of the Arcadia community and the Nickel Plate Road through interactive museum panels and tangible displays. Open to the public, there's no charge for admission. free of charge, Saturdays from 11 a.m.- 3 p.m. from May-September.
