Milan

The little town that did

Milan High School Basketball Team, 1954 Indiana State Champions - "HOOSIERS" - Postcard

Hoosiers love basketball and it was tiny little Milan, Indiana, with an enrollment of 161, who beat powerhouse Muncie Central (enroll 1662) in 1954 – this was before Indiana went to class sized tournaments – creating a small town and state wide legend and immortalized in the movie "Hoosiers."

Visit the Milan '54 "Hoosiers" Museum located in an old but active barber shop which just gives it even more small piquancy and attracts visitors from all over the world. Be sure to browse for collectibles at the Milan Whistle Stop, a wonderful antique store filled with finds.
