Monticello
Lakeside Fun
Located on two lakes and booming in the summer when the popular family amusement park, Indiana Beach, a state favorite since the 1920s, is open, there's more to Monticello than just an amusement park.
Wander the historic downtown which parallels Lake Freeman, stopping for lunch at Cazadores El Sabor de la Vide for lunch.
Visit Necessities, a woman's clothing store next door for resort wear (or Evelyn's, another clothier just down the street) and check out N. Smith Jewelry. Learn about the history of the area at the White County Historic Society one street over on Bluff Street.
Enjoy the late 18th century Queen Anne and Victorian style homes on Main and Bluff. Saddle up at the nearby Crooked Creek Trails for guided horseback rides or swing a club at the Pine View Golf Course.
Spend the night on water at the Lighthouse Lodge.
Catch a movie at the Lake Shore Drive-In which first opened in 1949.
Or just take a break from the sun in the charming white gazebo in the downtown park on the corner of Broadway and Main and watch the world go by.
