North Judson
Vintage Trains & Mint
In 1858, the first train arrived in North Judson and at one time, there were three different railroads servicing the town.
Now the Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum takes passengers through the pastoral landscape of Starke and Southern LaPorte Counties on a vintage train which includes an open air sightseeing car, a diesel locomotive and a caboose.
Besides the regular Saturday excursions there's also trips in conjunction with the area's Mint Festival in June.
Mint festival
Mint is such a big crop in this area that every June, North Judson holds a mint festival during Father's Day weekend. One of the main events is a competition to see who can create the most interesting mint recipe.
