Northwest Indiana

Indiana Dunes & Lake Michigan Shoreline

Stretching from the Illinois border and gateway to Chicago to Michigan City, the last city in Indiana on Lake Michigan before entering Michigan, Northwest Indiana offers history, culture, art, beautiful beaches and lovely gardens as well as great places to dine and stay.

Big cities, big lake

For visitors a key city is probably Michigan City, with its Friendship Botanical Gardens and Blue Chip Casino - one of four casinos in the region.

The city's Washington Park and Beach lines the southern shoreline of Lake Michigan and is connected to both two fantastic parks: Indiana Dunes State Park and Indiana Dunes National Park plus it has its own water park, zoo and restaurants. It's also a short jaunt by foot or car to the downtown and the Lighthouse Mall for outlet shopping.
