Hakuba 白馬
Winter sports & adventures
The ski resort of Hakuba gained fame during the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics when it hosted a number of events before worldwide TV audiences.
This is skier and snowboarder heaven - 10 resorts have teamed up to offer the ‘Hakuba Valley Ticket’ - a one-day ticket costing 6600 yen.
It’s not all about winter though. Hakuba is also a top summer resort. The Hakuba Sanzan (3 peaks of Hakuba) hike is popular, as is a dayhike to Happō-ike (Happō pond) from the top of the Happō-one lifts.
Hakuba has lots of accommodation, cafes, bars, restaurants, hot springs and is well set up for foreign visitors.
